Chiropractors are primary health care providers and are trained to treat conditions related to neck pain, back pain, injuries, chronic and acute pain, certain types of headaches, and much more. Chiropractors focus on the human spine, muscle, and nervous system while assessing, diagnosing, treating, and developing a proper treatment plan to help keep patients moving and pain-free.
Chiropractors undergo vigorous academic education after receiving a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. Chiropractors spend at least 8 years in school, four years in undergraduate and four more years at an accredited chiropractic college. Chiropractors in Canada must pass their written and practical board exams, as well as an ethics exam, specific to each province, before they are allowed to practice.
While attending chiropractic college, chiropractors spend an excessive amount in the anatomy lab, dissecting and studying from cadavers. Did you know both of our chiropractors studied at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College? It is well known for its exceptional anatomy labs and one of only 10 institutions designated as a school of anatomy courses.
Along with intensive academic studies, chiropractors spend many hours perfecting their skills in spinal manipulation, mobilization, soft tissue manipulation, and rehabilitation in the technique lab.
Chiropractors are also trained to take and read x-ray images, or radiographs.
